Reminding us of the sky and sea, blue sends us cues to freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness and inspiration. Soothing, optimistic and deep, the color is beneficial to the mind and body, and looks great against any skin tone.
The color blue was first produced by the ancient Egyptians who figured out how to create a permanent pigment which they used for decorative arts. Blue continued to evolve for the next 6,000 years, and has a long history in glass. The earliest known cobalt blue glass dates to a lump from ~2000 BC in ancient Mesopotamia, and a piece was even found in Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt.
But back to now! With new appreciation for a classic, I dove deep into cobalt hues this season. The Blue Skies collection uses three different colors of blue glass: deep cobalt blue, transparent cobalt blue, and a glass of marbled Caribbean blue and white.
The collection features show-stopping statement rings, bolo tie necklaces and elegant earrings. Whether these blues bring you tranquility or elevation, soothe or energize, my hope is that it becomes one of your signatures this year.
“Blue Skies” is named for the song—whether Ella or Willie, it's a great one.
